Should I bring beach towels?
Yes, the towels provided by MBL are for shower-use only.
Do I need to bring cash?
Optional - The office accepts Visa, MasterCard and debit cards. Weekly guests may set up a store tab and put all extra charges on it.
Is there cellular service?
Telus and Bell customers have great reception; Rogers customers may have low reception in some areas on the property.
Is there wi-fi?
Not at MBL, but there are a few businesses in Minden that offer wi-fi.
How do I find out when/where weekly activities are taking place?
Activities are posted outside of the Recreation Hall and on the Lodge porch. Any staff member would also be able to help.
When/how do I pay for my vacation?
Deposits are made at the time of booking by major credit card or cheque. Balances should be paid in the office on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday 9:00am to Noon.
Can I bring my pet?
No, but service animals are allowed if we are notified in advance. If you are looking for a place to watch your pets during your stay at MBL feel free to check out The Minden Pet Resort just 10 minutes north in Minden.
Are there any meals not included in the MAP meal plan?
All breakfast and dinners are included in the rate.
Can non-MAP guests eat in the dining room?
Yes! Our dining room is open to the public as well as all MBL guests. Reservations are recommended.
Do we need to take our garbage/recycling to the local dump?
No, all MAP cabins will have garbage and recycling emptied by the daily maid service. All housekeeping cottages have garbage and recycling containers outside of their accommodation, which is emptied daily by our maintenance staff. Minden Hills has a very strict recycling program, so please clean and sort accordingly.
Are guests allowed to have campfires outside of the organized MBL activities?
Yes. MBL has three fire pits that can be reserved at any time. There are firewood bundles available for purchase in the MBL store. An adult must be present.
Can we book for less than a week?
Housekeeping cottages can be booked in the off season for a minimum of 2 days if available. Short Term MAP accommodations MAY be booked last minute during the summer season. Contact for availability.
Is there a discount for booking in the off-season?
Yes. Housekeeping cottages rented for a week in the off-season will receive a 15% discount. Shorter stays will receive a 10% discount. Check the current rate sheet for details.
Are tips included in MBL rates?
No. MBL does not include any mandatory tips in our rates. MBL guests are encouraged to tip their servers and maid service. Envelopes for tips are in your accommodation, and can be dropped off at the office at the end of your vacation.
Is the water safe to drink?
Yes. The water in your Room, Cottage, Cabin or Trailer passes through a filtration and chlorination system. Our testing schedule exceeds provincial requirements and the staff members monitoring the water have been trained and certified.
I don’t have a cell phone, how can people contact me?
Any phone messages received in the office for guests will be posted on the notice board on the back porch of the store. If an emergency call is received, our staff will deliver the message.
If I’m bringing my boat, how can I get it in the water?
MBL has its own private boat launch at Gull Lake Beach. We also have a storage site for guest boat trailers.
Can MBL accommodate my dietary restrictions?
Yes. Our dining room is happy to provide you with meals that consider your food restrictions, as long as we are notified in advance.
I don’t own a car; can I still get to MBL?
Yes. There are regular coach bus routes from Toronto and Scarborough Town Centre to Miner’s Bay Lodge. Learn more.
I’m new to MBL, is there a map I can have?
Yes. There are maps of the property and of our extended nature trails available in the office. There is also a 3-D map of the property on the back porch of the office.
In case of emergency what is the closest medical facility?
The Minden Hospital is 9 Miles from MBL and is equipped with a 24 hour emergency room. Click here to learn more.
