Activities

Miners’ Bay Lodge provides a full daily program of optional organized activities for our guests during the main summer season. These events are led by our staff and are for all ages. Tournament winners receive an award at the end of the week!

Weekly Senior & Junior Tournaments:

Weekly Fishing Derby & Seasonal Fish Contest – Each week guests may submit their biggest catch. We record the type of fish, its weight and length and which lake it was caught in.

An award will be given out at the end of each week for the longest fish; there are senior and junior categories. Also, there are seasonal winners for the heaviest Bass and Lake Trout in the annual fish contest.

Seasonal Photo Contest – Guests may submit their favourite MBL photos. There are 5 photo categories: Nature, Action, Scenery, People, and Junior. At the end of the season, winning photos will be chosen and put on display in the recreation hall for the following year. Gift certificates will be sent to the winners in each category.

Organized Forest Hike & Lunch – Led by one of our staff, guests are taken on a hike to Sam’s Lake for some swimming and a campfire hot dog lunch. A small fee applies.

MBL Hiking Trails – In the office, there are guidebooks available to lead guests on our 3 history and nature trails. Each can be taken at a leisurely pace and take about 1.5 hours to complete.

Stunt Night – Each week guests go on stage to showcase their talents! Whether it be a funny skit, playing an instrument or singing a song, all are welcome to be creative for the night. Awards will be handed out for the tournament winners of the week.

Water Regatta – Every Friday there are a number of water activities at Gull Lake beach, including; cannonball competition, duck vs. boat race, inner tube race, water balloon toss and tug-of-war.

Wildlife Sightings – MBL keeps a register of all the guest wildlife sightings on and near the property. Among the recorded wildlife have been: otters, fox, beaver, turkeys, bears (large & small), woodpeckers, groundhogs, deer, turtles, porcupines, loons, fish, snakes, herons, and moose!
